One of the most common complaints we see about the Volvo Penta EVC Throttle Controls is the rubber on the handles cracks and falls apart over time. To avoid this, get a helm cover made and keep your controller protected from the sun! In addition, if you use sun screen, make sure you wipe off the handles after every use. (We aren't going to tell you to quit protecting yourself from the sun, so just clean off the handles).
If the plastic on your controller is falling apart consider replacement.
You will need:
- 1x kit (21766371 if you have a trim button, 21766372 if you do NOT have a trim button)
- Small Flat Head Screwdriver
- T10 Torx bit
The process is simple. First, pry out the small plastic cover on the underside of the rubber handle.
Next, remove the 3x T10 torx bolts holding the rubber handle on to the arm and slide it off.
Install the replacement rubber pad with the new hardware, and snap the new plastic cover in place.
Now do the same for the other arm. Voila! Your throttle control arms are ready for another season of fun on the water.
